Many tags are used for the projects and/or the dossiers; see if tags used are

  • accurate, easy to understand
  • redundant; if yes, use less
  • belong to another category of filtering, like audience (tbd) or maturity (already avail)

Some findings (post being extended).

1. Collapse tags if semantically included by others or equivalent

Example from FOSS area:

Similar tags should be collapsed to one form, e.g., Open source, Open-source, Open source and FOSS should rather be only FOSS (which includes all of the former forms, semantically).

2. Collapse to less tags if semantically similar

These tags

Example from a network type area:

Decentralized
Federated
P2P
Peer-to-Peer
Distributed

could become

Decentralized
Federated
P2P

3. Rather omit too specific tags, use more general ones

Example from a data area:

Tags like these:

Open Data
Linked Data
Data
Knowledge Graphs
Semantic Web
RDF

could become these less specific ones:

Open Data
Linked Data
Knowledge Graphs

could become

Maybe Encryption can also be used for very specific software in that area, as there are other ways to achieve Privacy or Security (e.g., by Data Minimisation or an Offline / Local Storage approach of the SW in question).

As a further instance of 3., tags ``` Privacy Security Data Protection Encryption Surveillance Resistance ``` could become ``` Privacy Security ``` Maybe `Encryption` can also be used for very specific software in that area, as there are other ways to achieve _Privacy_ or _Security_ (e.g., by _Data Minimisation_ or an _Offline / Local Storage_ approach of the SW in question).
